A Book Stand Makes a Good Gift for Readers
A book stand is a amazing aid for every real lover of books. Currently sole models range from straight forward wire devices such as the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at variable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the ultimately sophisticated LEVO Bookholder that retains a book in either a floor stand model or a clamp-on model that securely fastens to any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand designs work best with hardcovers, but most also can work very well with paperbacks when they are mounted within book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds flat for easy storage and transport and is sold with it’s own convenient pouch designed for easy placement in a 3 ring binder. It may be used on a counter top for recipe books, or the top of any desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders swing from the back plane to hold the covers and open pages of your book, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are easily accommodated. The back of the stand also has horizontal pieces that can be moved to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which includes a weighted rolling base for easy movement from bedside to treadmill to the couch, desk, table or counter top. Wherever you choose to put it, the LEVO can hold your book in virtually any position. With a bookboard that adjusts in any plane, and coupled with a book mounting mechanism that will hold your book or other reading material, even in an inverted position, the LEVO enables hands-free reading just about anywhere.
The LEVO Desk model is just as convenient as the LEVO Floor Model, but provides a clamp that securely attaches to just about any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and provides the same movements as the floor stand model, without the degree of vertical telescoping movements. By supporting your book up off the surface to which it is attached, the clamp-on model saves the weight and expense of the rolling base while freeing up work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.
While there are other book stand designs now available, the LEVO and Fold’N'Stow designs have stood the test of time and function well under long term use.
